Bronx P. S. 230 is located in the Morrisania section of South Bronx. The school shares its facilities with M. S. 229. The majority of the school’s students live in a high-rise apartment across the street from the school. P. S. 230 serves 459 students in kindergarten through fourth grade in open classrooms without walls. Approximately 91% of the population qualify for free or reduced lunch. The population consists of 56% Black/African American students, 41% Hispanic/Latino students, 2% Asian/Pacific Islander students, and 1% White students. Additionally, 18% of the students are considered Limited English Proficient. Currently, 18% of the school population qualify for Special Education services.
